Invictus - William Ernest Henley

My brother has a poem memorized, just in case he needs a poem to recite on spot. (Yes, I’m from that sort of a family.) I’m not sure I memorized Invictus on purpose. Maybe because it is so short and lyrical that I managed to memorize it so rather quickly as a teen. If I had to pull out a poem to recite (that wasn’t one of mine), this would be the poem. Strength under adversity is something I have always admired and strived for.
