IF - Ruyard Kipling

I like this poem - despite the fact that it is gender-specific. I guess it would be a bit harder to end with “And - which is more - you’ll be a Man or Woman, my son or daughter.” It would also lose a fair amount of its power if it were speaking to multiple people instead of a single person. I like to read it when things are tough.
