Best Present - A Poem

I started writing poems when I was in elementary school. I can’t specifically remember being introduced to poetry but I do remember liking the way that some words seemed to play together and wanting to make my own.

While I’ve written many poems over the years, the earliest one that I remember writing is the Best Present poem. I made up in elementary school and have always remembered despite not always having it written down. Maybe not a jewel among poems but certainly something that I was proud of in the second grade.
